Puerto Rico is facing a humanitarian crisis after Hurricane Maria destroyed the island. Aid isn’t reaching the island quickly enough, leaving 3.4 million residents in danger as they are running low on essentials like food, clean water, and fuel.

The entire island has lost power, including the Puerto Rico’s hospitals that are now relying on generators, but even those are at risk of failure. It remains unknown how long it will take for power to get back up and running, but estimates say that it may take as long as six months!

The people of Puerto Rico need our help, which is why we put together a drive to deliver care packages to the island. Donation items will be shipped directly to Jerry Forsyth, a dear friend and PR-native working to rebuild the island.

About The Collectors

Jerry Forsyth is from San Juan and lives in Guaynabo with his partner, Michy, a local psychiatrist. He attended private school in NH, Tilton School and is an active member of his community in PR. After Hurricane Maria, they have been delivering to their local area’s and to a shelter in Adjuntas, PR and a child care center in Carolina, PR. His daughters are helping, as are his friends, with the distribution of supplies. He quotes “Our efforts are small compared to others but every single item we deliver puts a smile on somebodies face. It’s the little things that matter in life.”
