About New Reach
New Reach is a nonprofit agency that inspires independence for those affected by homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing and support using the most innovative and progressive methods. It is our vision that all children, families and individuals in Connecticut find a safe, secure, affordable home with the services and supports necessary to achieve a fulfilling, self-reliant life.
Incorporated in 1990, New Reach, operates two emergency shelters for homeless women and children, family stabilization programs, rapid re-housing programs, a regional furniture bank, and over 100 units of supportive and affordable housing for individuals and families, including 32 specific units targeted at housing and supporting individuals and families with an HIV or AIDS diagnosis. In FY 16-17 New Reach provided shelter for 289 women and 304 children and housed 185 households in New Haven and Fairfield counties.
The experience that New Reach has gained and programs we have developed over the last 27 years establish our true commitment to serving the under-served, under-represented population of individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in Southern Connecticut. New Reach has demonstrated the ability to create and implement innovative programs and support services that span from emergency crisis resolution to permanent housing. Further, we have demonstrated the ability to assume a leadership role in the community and a willingness to learn from others through our collaborative efforts in both New Haven and Fairfield Counties.
